Origin: Mostly Afghanistan, the Andes and Siberia

 

Lapis Lazuli:  This deep blue metamorphic rock is known to be mined in Afghanistan for almost 10000 years. and even older artefacts are found. The most important mineral component of lapis lazuli is lazurite giving it its deep blue color. Most lapis lazuli also contains calcite (white), sodalite (light blue), and pyrite (metallic yellow).
